Bodywork relaxes and opens the body to its natural self-healing capacities by softening muscles, improving circulation, oxygenating cells, relieving stress and enhancing muscle and joint function. Katey uses guided imagery to assist people in learning how to relax and release tension that can be stored in the body from past physical and emotional traumas.<br /><br />Modalities Katey uses:<br /> <br />SWEDISH MASSAGE uses kneading, stretching and deep massaging of the muscles.<br /> <br />ESALEN AND NEO-REICHIAN METHODS acknowledge that our physical, emotional and spiritual histories live in our bodies. By using deep breathing, pressure and associative imagery, resistance, congestion and pain can be cleared.<br /> <br />JIN SHIN ACUPRESSURE is based on the Chinese Acupuncture meridians system using gentle pressure on acupressure points. Meridians are the energy pathways that flow through the body. Opening the points releases the muscles to breathe and flow in a more natural state.<br /> <br />CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY works with the cerebral spinal fluid that flows from the skull to the sacrum. This is a very gentle, deeply relaxing experience.<br /> <br />MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE reduces edema with the lightest of touches.<br /> <br />GUIDED IMAGERY supports the client to engage their mind to release tension and bring deep relaxation.
Vinyasa Yoga Classes
VINYASA YOGA links breath with movement, bringing balance, strength and flexibility to the body, mind and spirit. Yoga helps align the body, stretch and strengthen the muscles, clear the mind and connect to spirit. <br /> <br />Katey provides Gentle, Slow Flow and Vigorous classes as well as private lessons. In this practice we sit for a few minutes to ground, becoming present to the body and the breath. We learn to use the Ujayi breath to open, soften and release tension from the body, allowing us to find ease in the poses. Yoga is a gentle and powerful practice that can be done throughout all life stages.Benefits of yoga include stress reduction, releasing physical tension, relief from headaches, insomnia and helps with recovery of all kinds.<br />
Dance the Heart, Body and Soul AWAKE!
Share the joy of free movement, dance and music. Everyone welcome. This is an introduction to using dance as a way to give your body, mind and spirit permission to connect with yourself in an open-hearted way. The music will follow a rhythm wave created with this intent. Wear comfortable clothes and bring water to drink.
Life Transition Counsel
We all have the opportunity to create a life well lived by being listened to and responding to what arises. Katey offers deep listening counsel and her life experience of creating rituals to honor transitions and life passages. As a healing artist Katey invites you to dive deeply into your experience and truth about what is going on for you in any situation and creatively respond by expressing your self through feelings, art, ritual, song or any way that serves you.<br /> <br />Katey has counseled both individuals and partners dealing with many different issue. She has attended, supported and helped create rituals for many rites of passage for life transitions, including blessingways (pregnancy), birth, menarche, leaving home, menopause, illness, recovery and death.<br /> <br />Through massage, yoga, dance and deep listening, clients learn to practice relaxation, breathing, self-awareness, conflict resolution and self-expression in order to expand more fully and healthfully into their daily lives.
