Martial Arts Classes
The translation of Martial Arts (war or warrior arts) encompasses many different skill sets. In our case, we teach Okinawan Karate, Kobudo (Okinawan weapons training). Aikido and Tai Chi.
Karate
We teach Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate. Okinawa is the birthplace of all Karate. The term Karate is actually two words, Kara - meaning empty and Te - meaning hand or fist which translates to the art of unarmed self-defense. We offer classes to people of all ages as we believe the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of Karate benefits everyone.
Kobudo
Kobudo is the study and practice of all the traditional weapons. We teach the Bo or staff, Sai, Nunchaku, Tonfa, Kama, and Eaku amongst others. The word for Kobudo is actually three words Ko - meaning ancient, Bu -meaning warrior or chivalrous and do- meaning way.
Aikido
Aikido is characterized by dynamic throws, withering joint locks and techniques which redirect an attack to unbalance and neutralize the attacker. Aikido regularly incorporates weapons such as sword, jo, and knife as well as practice versus multiple opponents.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for its defensive training, health benefits, and meditation, Working on the Chinese cosmological concepts of the flux of yin and yang.
